报告题目:Supporting M2M Applications over MobilityFirst Future Internet Architecture

摘要:Traditionally, in machine to machine (M2M) communication applications, tags, sensors and their networks are designed and used for dedicated vertical markets. The sensing data are isolated from each others and constrained within their application scopes. To break the boundaries of the isolation of sensor networks and achieve the vision of a true Internet of Things, future Internet architecture must have a fundamental change. In this talk, we introduce a future Internet architecture research, the MobilityFirst project at WINLAB, Rutgers University. MobilityFirst uses a global unique identification (GUID) for every network entity as its name, separating from its address. Network entities, such as mobile terminals, mobile sub-networks, can be addressed through a fast name resolution service which maps GUID to current addresses. Using MobilityFirst approach, sensors with GUIDs can be identified at the network level without a need to run IP stacks. Therefore, the boundaries of isolated information islands can be removed at the core network level, achieving a true Internet of Things architecture. In this talk, we will discuss how MobilityFirst approach applies to sensors and sensing data. We will also present the additional benefits of MobilityFirst approach for M2M applications, including the self-certifying feature for strong authentication and disruptive tolerant network transport.

李钧教授简介:Jun Li is now with WINLAB, Rutgers University as a research scientist, working on Future Internet Architecture with focus on the M2M applications. He has received B.S. and M.S. degrees from Xidian University, Xi'an, China in 1983 and 1985, respectively; and he received his Ph.D. degree from WINLAB, Rutgers University in 1999, all in electrical engineering. During 1986 to 1993, he had been working with various research and industrial institutes in China, Japan and US, in the fields of digital signaling processing and computer networking. He joined NEC C&C research laboratories in Princeton, NJ since May 1995 while he was pursuing Ph.D. degree at WINLAB, Rutgers University, where he conducted research on networking protocols for next generation mobile communication systems. From May 2001 to August 2010, he had been with Corporate Research of Thomson Inc. in Princeton, NJ, as a principal member of technical staff, working on advanced technologies for home networking applications. Jun Li has more than 30 technical publications including 11 Journal papers; and he holds 24 granted patents.
